Terrie Kim Sorensen, 54, of Hollywood, MD, formerly of Elkhart, IN and Yuma, AZ, died January 15, 2011 at Washington Hospital Center. Born June 11, 1956 in La Junta, Colorado, she was the daughter of William Grant Sorensen and Lois Eileen Ellerman Sorensen.

Terrie had a most interesting life, having worked as a Deputy Sheriff for 12 years in Yuma County, Arizona before becoming a job coach for mentally disabled and brain injured people. She liked to sing and was a member of the Cosmic Community Chorus of St. Mary's County. In high school, she was a thespian and could play any musical instrument with a reed.

Terrie's mother Eileen passed away in October 1989.

She is survived by her father William Sorensen (Gaye), daughter, Jennifer Lee Kingston; brothers, Emmett Duane Sorensen (Michelle) and Bryan Scott Sorensen (Kim); Sister, LeAnn Buckhout (Daryl G.); 4 grandchildren, Mykala, Jazmine, Randy and Alon, nieces, Maggie L. West and Kendall R. Garton, and nephew Charles W. Bledsoe.

The family will receive friends for a gathering on Friday, January 21, 2011 from 6 - 7 p.m. at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00p.m. conducted by Pastor Keith Corrick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
