Richard "Dickie Boy" Pelham Wood, 60, of Mechanicsville, Maryland died on January 16, 2011 at Hospice House in Callaway, Maryland. Born on November 14, 1950 in Leonardtown, Maryland. He was the son of the late Bernard Melvin and Margaret Ann Pilkerton Wood.

Dickie Boy was an equipment operator for 31 years for St. Mary's County Public Works. He retired in 2005. After retiring from the county, he worked for B&B Maintenance in grounds and landscaping until sickness forced him to retire again. He loved playing softball and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mae Bell Richardson Wood; sisters, Evelyn Arnold (Richard Sr, deceased), Rae Garner (Lawrence, deceased), Julia Ann Matthews (Douglas, deceased), Jacqueline Dalton (Harry), Janice Long (Stanley), Margaret M. Burch (William A. Burch Jr, deceased), Beverly Pelczar (Bruce), Linda Reynolds (Dave), and Melva Rita Buckler (Minor); brothers, Charles Wood (Teresa) and Zach Wood (Sue); grandchildren, Jessica M. Burch and James W. Garner, Jr.; and many other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, he is pre-deceased by his sister Joyce Hammett and her husband Tommy, and his sister Imogene Burroughs and her husband Elliott.

A Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. with prayers at 7 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., Charlotte Hall, Maryland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 28297 Old Village Rd., Mechanicsville, Maryland with Father John Caulfied officiating. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, Maryland.

Pallbearers will be David Burch, Shawn Dalton, Ronnie Lyons, Mike Anderson, Glenn Buckler and Harry Pool.
