Ms. Crothers worked in Human Relations areas for the Federal Government; first with the Department of the Navy, then with the U.S. Air Force at Andrews Air Force Base, and finally with the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C.

She was a member of Grace Brethren Church for more than 26 years, where she was involved with Bible studies and small group activities. She served as Secretary of the Catherine Foundation for several years. Mary was also an active member of a senior's Watercolor class. Her paintings won numerous awards. She enjoyed traveling, dining out and most of all, being with friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Bert Stevenson; two sons, Richard (Emilia) O'Reilly of Martinsburg, WV and Sean (Vicki) O'Reilly of Mechanicsville, MD; two stepdaughters, Leslie (Jim) Witwer of Puyallup, WA and Sarah Stevenson; two stepsons, Paul (Trisha) Crothers of Gilroy, CA and Scott (Nancy) Stevenson of La Plata, MD; and one brother, Michael (Michele) Avrick of White Plains, MD. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Evan, Tessa and Juliana O'Reilly, Annika Crothers; Alison and Jamie Witwer, and Joshua and Taylor Grace Stevenson.

A Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 5-8pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2010 at 11am at Grace Brethren Church, 13000 Zekiah Drive, Waldorf, MD 20601.

Clergy will be the Rev. Jeff Thornley

Interment will follow at Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
