Luz Angelica Perez, 67, of La Plata, MD passed from this world to the next on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Civista Medical Center. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Born on June 19, 1943 in Santiago, Chile, South America. The only daughter of Antonio and Luz Quiroga. She had an older brother David Quiroga who preceded her death, and the younger brother, Sergio Quiroga who still resides in Santiago, Chile.

She and her husband, along with her 2 young children immigrated to the United States in 1970. She resisted learning the language for several years before coming to the realization that America would be her new home. Once she started this new path, never looking back, she attended night school to help her learn English and transition into this new American way. Though she lived in America twice as long as she did in Chile, she never lost her adorable accent. She was aided in this journey by her loving in laws, most of all Maria Perez. She was a life long faithful catholic. She became an American citizen with her husband in 1996. Which brought her tremendous joy. She was a sales associate at Hecht's, which later became Macy's from the day the store opened. She made many life long friends along the way, which included many customers and co-workers. Her 3 children, Sergio A. Perez, Jr, Maria Perez, and Cynthia Perez Welsh, and her 7 grandchildren survive her. Michael, Nicholas, Austin, Angelica, Adrianna, Connor, and Ava. She was known by several names but most of all Tita, which is a shortened, miss pronounced name of grandmother in Spanish, given to her by her eldest grandson Michael.
