ohn Davis Everett, 75 of Mechanicsville, MD died December 3, 2010 at home with his family. Born February 20, 1935 in Weeping Water, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Francis Davis Everett.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne from 1954 until 1962. He traveled to Africa, Australia, Europe and many more locations.

John was involved in the NASA space program from 1963 until his retirement from Bendix Corporation. His career took him from California, to Michigan and finally settling in Maryland in 1971. After retiring from Bendix he worked for the Hammers Company, a contractor for NASA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, beekeeping, ranching and scouting.

John and Donna lived on a ranch in California where they raised horses, including his pride and joy, a filly named Blaze. John was an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. John and Donna had a house built in Mechanicsville, MD in 1985. John served in the Bishopric and Priesthood Presidency for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He also served as the Ward Mission Leader and Scout Leader, touching the lives of many. Family and friends were his greatest treasure.

John is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Donna Everett; his children, John M. Everett (Jennifer), Donna M. Horan, Lori Davis and Shawna Martin; sisters, Shirley Sudduth, Susan Renner (Jake), and June Herman (Wimp). He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, Alec Horan, Michael Horan, John Thomas Horan, Reid Everett, Alyse Horan, Tessa-Wren Everett, Emma Everett, Steve Doyle (Joy), Keith Waggener (Pauline), Clay Kissel (Liz), Lonni Martin and his 6 great grandchildren, Austin Doyle, Tristin Waggener, Tanner Doyle, Kamryn Doyle, Isabelle Kissel and Kaylee Waggener.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Arthur and William Everett and his sisters; Dorothy Everett, Margaret Faughn, Mary Maneely, and Barbara Parson.

The family will receive friends for John's Life Celebration from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622 and again on Friday, December 10, 2010 from 10 to 11AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 22747 Old Rolling Road, California, MD 20619, where funeral services will be at 11AM. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD.
