Mr. Gardiner was the Superintendent of Charles County Public Works for 20 years and a lifetime member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Waldorf, MD. In his earlier years, Philip was a Slot Machine Mechanic. He was an avid gardener and greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and crabbing.

He was son of the late Edwin M. Gardiner and the late Idalia Loretta Gardiner.

He was predeceased by his parents; and late wife, Berdinia Lucille Wegner Gardiner.

He isi survived by his two sons, Philip Edwin Gardiner of Spring City, PA and Kevin Mark (Kim) Gardiner of Powder Springs, GA; four daughter, Rose Anne (Andrew) Kline of Hughesville, MD, Cheryl Ann (Tim) French of Mechanicsville, MD, Cynthia Louise Vance of Waldorf, MD and Dianne Marie (Dan) Moreau of Annapolis, MD; three brothers; five sisters; and one brother-in-law, Steve Haaser of Alexandria, VA. Also survived by fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with a Wake Service at 7pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 11am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 3320 St. Peter's Church Road, Waldorf, MD 20601.

Clergy will be Monsignor Bill Parent.

Interment will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Church Cemetery, Waldorf, MD.
