Rodd Evan Snell, 43 of Charlotte Hall, MD, formerly of Clinton, MD, died suddenly on October 7, 2010 at Georgetown University Hospital.
Born on August 26, 1967 in Washington, DC, he was the son of Douglas Snell and the late Frankie Snell. Rodd was self-employed and President of R.E. Snell Siding and Windows. Rodd is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Shelly Renee SanFelice Snell, children, Zachary and Justin Snell, brother, Todd Snell, sister, Karen Logan, In-Laws, Judy Cooper and John and Asuman SanFelice, sister-in-law, Selene SanFelice, and many other relatives and dear friends. Rodd met Shelly in 1984 and they married in 1993. Rodd loved to laugh and spend time with his friends. But most of all, he was a devoted husband and father to his boys and always put family first. He played baseball, football and basketball with the Clinton Boys & Girls Club and baseball with St. John's Babe Ruth and the Clinton American Legion. During high school at Gwynn Park, he played baseball where they won the state championship in 1984. While attending Charles County Community College he played for their baseball team. After college, Rodd played softball for Snell & Sons and Troese Title. When his sons began playing youth sports, Rodd coached for the Hughesville Baseball Association for 10 years and also was a football coach for the St. Mary's Pigskin League and LaPlata Blue Knights. Sport fishing, hunting and paintball were some of his other interests. A Life Celebration will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD where Funeral Services will be Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. Interment private. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Rodd's boys may be made to "The Rodd Snell Memorial Fund", c/o. PNC Bank, 37650 Oak Station Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622.
