Mrs. Wood was a Retired Public Affairs Specialist for 37 years at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, VA. She spent her spare time with her grandchildren and was an avid Redskins fan. She also enjoyed semi-annual trips to Lancaster, PA.

Daughter of the late Herman Frank Ryce and Mary Lydia Franklin.

Predeceased by her father.

Survived by her husband of 41 years, John H. Wood, Jr.; mother, Mary Ryce; one son, Kevin (Missi) Wood of Cobb Island, MD; one daughter, Kim (Chris) Maggi of Waldorf, MD; and one sister, Sharon (Ronnie) Coombs of Richmond, VA. Also survived by three grandchildren, Caleigh Wood, Christopher Maggi, and Conner Maggi.

Visitation: Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with Wake Service at 7pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, October 8, 2010 at 11am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph's Way, Pomfret, MD 20675.

Clergy: Father Mark Smith.

Pallbearers: Kevin, Donnie, and Frankie Wood, Ronnie and Todd Coombs, and Mike Hayes.

Honorary Pallbearers: Summer, Jack, and Josh Coombs, Christopher and Conner Maggi, and Caleigh Wood.

Interment: St. Joseph's Catholic Church Cemetery, Pomfret, MD.
