Samuel C. Spalding Jr., 56, of Hollywood, MD, died September 17, 2010 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
Sam was born on September 4, 1954 to Teresa and Samuel Spalding, Sr. He was the loving husband of Victoria Spalding and devoted father to Shannon Spalding (Stephen) Armsworthy and Stephen Spalding. He was also the grandfather to Gracen Lynne Maria Armsworthy and Samuel Parker Armsworthy. In addition, he was the brother of Betty (Gordy) Smith, Becky (Roger) Ciarleglio, Anna (Gary) Long, Sharon (Jerry) Farr, Kathy (David) Dean, Jenny (Wayne) Boothe and Jeff (Teresa) Spalding. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Karen Ann Spalding and Valerie Suzanne Spalding. Sam and Vicky would've been married 33 years this October. They had a wonderful and loving marriage that death can never separate. Sam was extremely proud of his children; Shannon who was a Catholic School teacher and Stephen, a former Army Staff Sergeant. Sam took over, from his father, as Maintenance Director in 1994, serving 35 years at Harry Lundeberg School, in Piney Point, MD. "Sambo" and "Bo Bo", as he was known to family and friends, greatly enjoyed farming, crabbing, and hunting. He was a strong man who loved the simple pleasures of life. One of his favorite past times was being surrounded by his friends and family at the "shack on the hill" in Hollywood; either watching NASCAR or his football team, the Dallas Cowboys. He shared a special bond with his grandchildren. "Poppy" and his "Baby Girl," Gracen, shared many hours riding the gator around the farm, picking cucumbers from his garden, and feeding the cows. His namesake, Samuel Parker, had an ability to bring the biggest smile to his grandfather's face. Sam was a good friend and an incredible human being who will be greatly missed. Family will receive friends for Sam's Life Celebration on Monday, September 20, 2010 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, 43927 St. John's Road, Hollywood, MD with prayers being recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Francis Regis Church, Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Raymond Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
