Barbara Louise Fritz, 78, of California, Maryland, passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Nursing Center on August 13, 2010.
Barbara was born in Muskegon, Michigan on 10 September 1931 to Gilbert Bernard Conroy and Ardean Scheel Conroy. She was predeceased in 2006 by her beloved husband, of 32 years, CAPT Charles W. Fritz II USN. With God's blessing, they are together again. Barbara spread love wherever she went and always had a way of making people feel comfortable and happy. The world is a much better place for her having passed through it. She will be missed and remembered fondly. Barbara is survived by her children Mark Koehler (of San Jose, California) and Mira Barks; (of Mechanicsville, Maryland) stepchildren Charles Fritz III (of Huntsville, Alabama), Timothy Fritz, (Gaithersburg, Maryland) and Peter Fritz (of Wailuku, Hawaii); grandmother of Libby Larson, Katie Crawford, Tarren Hoerchler, Chelle Strait, Sandra Stenhouse, Katie Goodyear, Abbie Fritz, Charles Koehler, David Barks, Andrew Fritz, and Zachary Fritz. Barbara had six great grandchildren: Kathryn, Keira, Mark, Jack, Ellie, and Nate. She was predeceased in 2003 by her only sibling, Bernard Gilbert Conroy. Barbara worked at WMKG-TV Channel 54 in Muskegon, Michigan for three years where she hosted the live television coverage of the Miss Michigan parades as well as weekly local live talk shows. For two years, Barbara worked at WKBD-TV Channel 50 in Detroit, Michigan where she was the associate producer of the Lou Gordon Show. In 1972, Barbara moved to California to work in the recording industry. In 1975, Barbara returned to the east coast where she worked in the Senate. Barbara retired in 1986 from the Office of the Senate Sergeant at Arms where she was Personnel Manager for a staff of more than 140 in the Senate Service Department. Friends will be received to celebrate Barbara's Life on Friday, September 24, 2010 from 9-11:30 a.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622 where funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery.
