Warren Gabriel Harding Kidwell, Sr., 86 of Hughesville, MD, formerly of Clinton and Upper Marlboro, MD, died on June 30, 2010 at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home.

Born on December 2, 1923 in Nottingham, MD, he was the son of the late William Henry and Mary Jane Boswell Kidwell. Mr. Kidwell was self-employed paint contractor, Kidwell & Son Painting for 45 years. He served in the US Army from 1943 until he was honorably discharged in 1946. During his time, he received Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star. He was a military policeman and was the recipient of the Combat Infantryman's Badge and participated in the Battle of Luzon. He was also in Utsunomiya, Japan. His enjoyments were horse racing, bingo, watching westerns and sports, playing cards, fishing, telling jokes, and story telling. Whenever there was a family crisis, he was the first one to be supportive. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.

Survived by his wife, Helen Lucille Asmussen Kidwell, children, Mary Lou Cartwright, Vicki and husband, Joel Signor, Warren G. Kidwell, Jr., Steven Andrew Kidwell, Donald E. and wife, Terry Kidwell, Janice Lee and husband, Tony Deep, and Michael Alan and wife, Michele, siblings, Catherine Tippett, Betty Melton, Irene Rawlings, Thelma Brady, Raymond and Gene Kidwell, 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchildren.

Predeceased by a siblings, Geneva Tippett, Christabell and Leonard Kidwell, and twin brothers, Lawrence and Leroy Kidwell.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Mike Kidwell, Tony Deep, II, Tony Deep, III, Alton Cartwright, Billy and Clyde Bartz, John Bateman, and Joel Signor.

A Life Celebration will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD where Funeral Services will be on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD.
