Edith Regina Thomas Dunnington was born on November 6, 1928 in Marbury, Maryland to the late Frank and the late Minnie Thomas. Although she was known by her family as "Sister," she was also known as Regina. She departed this life and entered into eternal peace on Friday, June 25, 2010 at her residence.

She received her education in the Public Schools of Charles County, Maryland graduating from Pomonkey High School in June 1946. Regina met and married William McKinley Dunnington.

Regina worked at the Naval Propellant Factory, Indian Head, MD and later moved with the Agency to Fort Belvoir, Alexandria, Virginia where she retired after many dedicated years of service. She later became a caregiver to many elderly people. She also loved babysitting, gardening and caring for her flowers. Family and friends enjoyed her cooking skills, especially her fried chicken, potato salad, sweet potato pie and corn pudding and during the Christmas holiday everyone looked forward to her homemade root beer.

She was a life member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church singing with the Senior Choir for over 65 years. She also helped fry the chicken in the old church hall and enjoyed every moment. God always came first in Regina's life.

In addition to her parents, Regina was preceded in death by her brother, Lloyd Thomas, Sr., sisters, Rosa Slater and Evelyn Miles and step-father John W. Brooks.

Fond memories will be cherished by her three loving children, Charles (Ruby), Beverly (William Stewart), and Pamela (Tony) Dorsey, seven grandchildren, Keya (William)McRae, Edith Nivens, Rashawn Ebony Williams, William Stewart II, John Dorsey, Chrystal Shaw, and Joniece Shaw, eight great grandchildren, Shayla Dunnington, Eshawna Lee, Brittany Nivens, William McRae III, Shanae Nivens, Darrius and Javone Hatton and six other great grandsons, three sisters-in-law, Ollie Barnes, Pearline and Elizabeth Dunnington, two brothers-in-law, Paul and Clifford Dunnington, devoted nephew and niece, Clifton and Theresa Thomas, and a host of others nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a childhood friend, Florine King and longtime friends, Callie Brown, Virginia Price and Mary Thompson, two God daughters, Regina and Jessica Johnson, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Her viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 30th, 6:00pm until 9:00pm, prayers 8:00pm and on Thursday, July 1st, 10:00am until time of services 11:00am at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 5560 Pleasant Grove Road, Marbury, MD 20658. Interment Church Cemetery.
