Emma Elizabeth Bailey, 88, of Morgantown, MD passed away on June 1, 2010 at her residence.

Born on October 14, 1921 in Tompkinsville, MD to the late Edna Toretta Penn and the late Allie Welch.

Mrs. Bailey was a waitress for over 25 years at Hardesty's Restaurant in Newburg, MD. She was involved with the 4th & 5th District Democratic Club and a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Issue, MD. In later years, she was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Charles Robert Bailey, sisters; Ruby Bridgett, Mary Kenney and brothers; Joe Wenk and Junior Wenk.

She is survived by daughters; Elizabeth Tolson, Betty Williams and husband Jim, Edna Oakes, Barbara Coulby and husband Eddie, Jeannie Burks and husband Dennis, and Debbie Smith. Sister; Shirley Moses. Brothers; Alfred Wenk and wife Aggie, Adrian Rice and wife Lori. 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Coulby, Jimmy Williams, Paul Tolson, Kenny Tolson, Robert C. Hardesty, and Gene Grimes. Honorary pallbearers will be Elizabeth Tolson, Betty Williams, Edna Oakes, Barbara Coulby, Debbie Smith, and Jeannie Burks.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A rosary will be said in that time at 6:30 pm with prayers to follow at 7 pm. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 12 noon at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Issue, MD. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Charles County and the Newburg VFD.
