Thelma Gwynette Bender, 90, of Waldorf, MD, died May 4, 2010, at P.G. General Hospital, Cheverly, MD.

Mrs. Bender was a bank teller for 29 years with Maryland Bank and Trust in Waldorf and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Waldorf. She loved gardening, flowers and reading. In her earlier working years she worked for Talley Jewelry.

Born December 22, 1919, in Waldorf, MD, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Cleveland Montgomery and the late Mary Gwynette Willett.

Predeceased her parents; husband, Joseph Henry Bender, brothers, Earl and Grover Montgomery and sisters, Evelyn Adams and Beulah Robey.

Survived by one daughter, Diane and her husband Ray Hoffman of Charlotte Hall, MD; sister, Dorothy Reeder of West Virginia; grandchildren, Amy Metzler and Polly Martin and great grandchildren, Charlotte Ball, Kyle and Eric Metzler.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 8, 2010, from 9 to 10:30AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Waldorf, MD.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 8, 2010, at 10:30AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church.

Fr. Alain Colliou will officiate.

Interment will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
