John Francis Summers, Jr., 84, of Mechanicsville, MD died April 9, 2010 at his residence. Born April 1, 1926 in Baden, MD, he was the son of John Francis Summers, Sr. and Lucille Augusta Mudd Summers.

Mr. Summers served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was later employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He enjoyed sports, especially watching baseball and football games.

Besides his parents Mr. Summers was predeceased by his brother, Edwin Gwynn Summers. He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Summers; sons, John F. Summers, III and Charles B. Summers; daughters, Delephia Boswell, Cheryl A Derry and Susan G. McPherson; brothers, Samuel Joseph Summers and Lawrence Joseph Summers; sisters, Marie Lucille Summers CBS and "Nancy" Evelyn Ann Hedrick; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends for John's Life Celebration on Monday, April 12, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. Prayers will begin at 7:00p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at St. Michael's Church, Baden at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Church Cemetery, Waldorf, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baden Volunteer Fire Department, 16608 Brandywine Rd., Brandywine, MD 20613.
