Born Alice Rebecca Posey on June 1, 1925 in Crossroads, Maryland (now known as Nanjemoy, Maryland) to the late Archie Posey, Sr. and the late Carrie Marbury Posey Brooks. On Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland, the Lord called her home.
Alice accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age. She was baptized at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Nanjemoy, Maryland and held the position of deaconess. She loved to read her bible and attend church, and did so until her health began to fail. Her favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalm. Alice was educated in the Charles County Public School System. She worked for over 20 years providing services in housekeeping. She took great pride in her work and was praised consistently by her employers. Alice was most proud of her family. She loved to spend time at her sister Kate's house, where family cookouts always took place. She loved her sisters cooking. Her most enjoyment was in reading the bible and going to church revivals, where she would listen to the Word of God. Alice was a friendly, outgoing Christian woman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Dent, Sr., two sons: James B. Dent, Jr. and Glynn W. Dent, sister, Mary Fryer and brother, Phillip Posey. She leaves to cherish fond memories, one granddaughter, Ashley N. Dent, two great-grandchildren, five sisters: Kate Posey, Isadore Posey-Datcher, Earsyline Franklin, and Vidi Carter, four brothers: Archie Posey, Jr., Francis Posey, Paul Posey and William Posey, four brothers-in-law: Deacon James Posey, Reginald Datcher, William Franklin and James Carter, two sisters-in-law: Shirley Posey and Diane Posey, a host of nieces and nephews, a very special niece, Darlene Toy, close friends: Jackie Swann and Wilma Gimmell, a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing, 10am until time of Service, 12 noon at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 11220 Holly Spring Road, Nanjemoy, Maryland on Friday, April 9, 2010. Interment, Church Cemetery.
