Ruth Bivens, 75, of Huntingtown, MD died March 30, 2010 at the Calvert County Nursing Center in Prince Frederick, MD. Born June, 22 1934 in Hancock, MD she was the daughter of the late Elmer T. Hixon and Mary Kellner Hixon.

Ruth was born and raised in Hancock before moving to Calvert County. She was a homemaker for many years helping raise her family and also working as a nurse's aide at Calvert Memorial Hospital. Ruth then decided later in life to go back to school and graduated in 1978 with her L.P.N. degree from the Charles County Community College, afterward continuing her work with the hospital as a nurse. Ruth loved to spend her free time in her garden and tending to her flowers, but there was nothing Ruth enjoyed more than her family.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years Douglas Bivens Jr.; sons Douglas Bivens III and Dean Bivens, both of Lusby and Daryl Bivens of White Plains; sister of Mary E. Bohrer of Hagerstown, Nancy E. Ayers of Montgomery, TX, Elmer T. Hixon Jr. of Cumberland, Gail K. Hixon of Oakland, Lowell T. Hixon of Hancock and Joseph D. Hixon of Chambersburg, PA.

She was preceded in death by her sister Lois A. Wolford and brothers Walter D. Hixon and Davis R. Hixon.

She is the grandmother of Douglas Bivens IV, Darren Bivens, Justin Bivens and Jay Bivens. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
