Mr. Welch was a Heavy Equipment Operator with Southern Maryland cable (SMC) for over 40 years. He was an avid Redskins fan who enjoyed fishing, hunting, crabbing, and working with his cars (cleaning, driving, and racing). He loved his job and especially loved being with his family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, son, and brother.

He was son of the late Archie Thomas Welch and the late Hazel Lillian Wenk Welch.

He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, Lee Welch, one sister, Polly Strack, and one granddaughter, Samantha Brooke.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Deanna Jewel Welch, two sons, Joseph "Joey" Welch and Charles "Andy" Welch", both of Lusby, MD, two daughters, Lisa (Rob) Bowen of SC, and Christina (Keith) Fincham of Louisa, VA, and three sisters, Margie A. Welch and Linda "BooBoo" Welch, both of La Plata, MD, and Barbara Jean Coburn of NJ. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, Tony, Jeffrey, Ashley, Erika, Kara, and Danielle, and one great-grandson, Aaron.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, March 22, 2010 from 5-8pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646.

A Funeral Service will follow on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 11am at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD.

Clergy will be the Rev. Mark Roberson.

Interment will be at a later date.
