Henry Phillip Williams, Sr., was born in Welcome, Maryland on July 13, 1923. He was the son of the late Eugene and the late Inez Williams. He was called to rest on December 18, 2006 at the La Plata Center, Genesis ElderCare in La Plata, Maryland.
Henry was educated in the Charles County Public Schools. He immediately entered the U.S. Marines serving in World War II and was Honorably discharged in 1946. He began working for the Federal Government at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, D.C. until his retirement after 35 years of service. He also worked for Blackistone Florist for many years, making beautiful floral arrangements; and he drove for the Yellow Cab Company for years. In 2001, Henry entered the La Plata Center, Genesis ElderCare in La Plata, Maryland, where he resided until the time of his passing. While there, he made friends immediately and was fondly called "Pop Pop" by some of the staff who went out of their way to make sure that he was always comfortable. Henry was a devoted and loving father, brother, and friend. He enjoyed being around people and could always make you laugh. In addition to his parents, Henry was predeceased by his son, Henry, Jr. and companion, Nellie Mae Odellas. He leaves to cherish his memory: children, Larry (Betty), Sandy (Terry), Twanda (Duane), James (Betty) and Francis (Janie); one sister, Mary Scott; grandchildren, Lawrence, Netaushé, Toya, Nicole, Stacey, Duane, Degama, Anika, Frances, and Angie; 20 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of extended family and friends.
