George Leslie Ezelle "Smokey", age 82, of Huntingtown, MD died February 26, 2010 at his home. He was born December 14, 1927 in Bowie, MD to John and Hattie (Curtin) Ezelle.

George was educated in Prince George's County Schools. He was married to Agness Rebecca Arminger in Mitcheville, MD on July 13, 1950. Smokey worked on a family tobacco farm in Barstow until entering the U.S. Army in 1953. He served in Germany and received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Army Occupation Medal before being discharged as a corporal in 1955.

Returning to Calvert County after service he was employed as a carpenter fabricating windows in Bladensburg and later for Lamar & Wallace Construction Company in Lanham until retiring in 1989. He was a member of Waters Memorial Church, Williams Stallings Post 206 of the American Legion and was a former mason. Smokey loved the outdoors hunting deer and rabbits as a younger man or meticulous tending to his yard. He also enjoyed county music often going to the line dances.

Smokey was preceded in death by his wife Agness R. Ezell on March 1, 2007 and a brother in law Earl S. Armiger and sister in law Eleanor Louise Chaney.

He is survived by his brothers in law Russell Armiger of Croom, MD, James M. "Junior" Armiger, Jr. of Loveville, MD Roger "Bunky" Armiger of Prince Frederick, MD, Robert "Bobby" Armiger of Pasadena, MD Edward "Jimmy" Armiger of Greenville, NC and Wayne G. Armiger of Prince Frederick, MD; sisters in law Sarah Ann Armiger of Owings, MD and Edna Fox of Myrtle Beach. SC and several nieces and nephews.
