Mrs. Swindall was a homemaker and a member of Church of Christ, Clintwood, VA where she was very active with church functions. She enjoyed crocheting and being with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She was a fifth generation matriarch of the family.

Daughter of the late Claude Franklin Gicker and the late Beulah Elizabeth Flowers.

Predeceased by her parents; her late husband, Glen H. Swindall; a late step-son, Mark Swindall; and a late daugher-in-law, Bernice Thornton.

Survived by one son, Leonard R. Thornton of LA; two daughters, Dorothy E. Ruddell of Tampa, FL, and Delores Ann (Joseph Neal) Smith of Cobb Island, MD; three step-daughters, Christine Branham of Pound, VA, Frances Swindall of Clintwood, VA, and Jeannie Rodriguez of Springfield, VA. Also survived by 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.

Memorial Service Saturday, February 13, 2010, at 11:00AM at Christ Episcopal Church, Wayside, MD.

Clergy will be Rev. Connie Jensen.

Interment will be private at a later date.
