David Leroy Locks, Jr. was born on February 5, 1980 at Physician's Memorial Hospital in La Plata, Maryland to Sheila A Simms and David Locks, Sr. (also known as Larry Young).

DJ, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, attended school at McConchie Headstart, Walter J. Mitchell Elementary, and Piccowaxen Middle Schools. He graduated from LaPlata High School in 1999. During his younger years, and because of his love for sports DJ played basketball and football for LaPlata Parks and Recreation, LaPlata Blue Knights, he also played football at LaPlata High School.

DJ was an active member at Sacred Heart Church and also attended the CCD program as a child. He loved spending time with family and friends. You could always find him joking around and playing video games with his little brother and younger cousins. He was an avid Cowboys fan.

DJ was a devoted father to two children, Daeqwan and Danisha, and loved spending quality time with them. He loved life and family was very important to him. At his time of death, DJ was employed by Reliable Contracting, Co., Inc.; he has previously held positions at Wendy's, State Highway Administration and Pepco.

He leaves to mourn cherished memories his mother, Sheila A. Simms, father, David Leroy Locks, Sr.; a son, Daeqwan Farmer-Locks, a daughter, Danisha Locks; a younger brother, Charles Richardson, Jr.; grandparents, William F. and Bernice Simms, and William (Billy) Young; great-grandmother Edna Wells; a special friend, Sylvia Farmer; seven aunts, Gloria and Phyllis Simms, Lisa Savoy, Kelly McAlister, Sheila Coates, Cathy Spears and Debbie Medley; four uncles, Kenneth Simms, Kevin, Tony and Courtney Young; godparents, Agnes Yates-Bullock and Melvin Dorsey; two godchildren, LaKeast I. Clark and Shade'dreauna J. Thomas; best friends, Haasiem J., Jeanelle M. and Michael Clark; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two uncles, William Simms, Jr. and Leroy (Dickie) Locks; his grandmother Agnes Locks; great-grandparents Charlie and Henrietta Thomas, and Margaret Locks; and great-great-grandmother Georgiana Washington.

His Viewing will be held on Friday, December 1, 2006 from 6 to 9 pm with Prayers at 7pm at Thornton Funeral Home Chapel, 3439 Livingston Road (State Route #227) Pomonkey (Indian Head), Maryland and on Saturday, December 2, 2006 12:30 pm until Mass of Christian Burial, 1:30 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, Maryland. His Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
