David H. Gainer, 77, of Hughesville, MD died January 28, 2010 at his home. He was married for more than 57 years to Hilda Jean Gainer.
Born May 28, 1932 he was the son of the late Clyde A Gainer and Margaret Schaefer Gainer. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, David J. Gainer (Ethel) and his daughter, Robin Gainer Myers. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, David Joseph Gainer and Naomi Myers. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Clyde (Nicky) Gainer and his son-in-law, Robert Myers. Mr. Gainer enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1950. He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. In 1959 he entered the U.S. Park Police serving as a Patrol Officer. He then became a Motorcycle Officer reaching the rank of Sergeant before retiring with numerous citations and service awards. Officer Gainer served on the prestigious Presidential Escort Motorcycle Division. He retired in 1980. After retirement, Mr. Gainer worked at Camp St. Charles for Boys in Cobb Island, MD. He was an active member of the Hughesville Volunteer Rescue Squad. He loved working with his horses, spending time with his grandchildren and working on his property and home. The family will receive friends for David's Life Celebration on Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 6-8p.m. at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 11:00a.m. at Brinsfield-Echols with the Rev. Glenn Willis officiating. Interment will take place Friday, February 5, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. Pallbearers will be Danny Morris, Bill Saunders, Allen Glen Barkdoll, John Shea, Mike Riess and Ray Buckler. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hughesville Volunteer Rescue Squad, 15245 Prince Frederick Rd., Hughesville, MD 20637 or Immaculate Conception Church, P.O.
