Mrs. Young was a self-employed Domestic Worker and a member of the St. Mary's Ladies Sodality and the Ladies' Auxiliary for Knights of Columbus at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bryantown, MD.

Daughter of the late William Arthur Edelen and the late Mamie Allena Proctor Edelen.

Predeceased by her parents; one brother, George Edelen; two sisters, Mary Duckett and Dorothy Johns; and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Young.

Survived by her husband of 51 years, George P. Young, Jr.; sons, John Young of Suitland, MD, George (Beverly) Young of Bridgeville, DE, Joseph (Sonya) Young of Rocky Mount, NC, James (Roslyn) Young of Indian Head, MD, Garnell Young of Hughesville, MD, and Pernell (Yvette) Young of Hughesville, MD. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Visitation: Wednesday, January 20, 2010 from 9:00-10:30 AM at Sacred Heat Catholic Church (201 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646).

Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Clergy: Fr. Jerry Gamrot.

Interment: Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Chris Brown, Jamil Young, Ramon Somerville, Sr., Sean Somerville, Jorge Young, and Joseph Young, Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers: Carter Duckett and Edward Coates.
