Lillian Victoria Goss, 88, of Waldorf, MD, died January 12, 2010.
Lillian Goss was born in Washington DC, on April 9, 1921, to the late John Blake and Lena Thomas. She was a graduate of the Washington, DC public school system. St. Ignatius Chapel Point Catholic Church of Bel Alton, Maryland, was her church home for several years. While in attendance, she was a faithful Sunday School teacher. In 1972, Lillian accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ, as her personal savior. In 2003, Lillian joined the Church of the Living God of Suitland, Maryland, where she served as a Mother of the Church. Lillian was employed by the Federal Government at the General Service Administration. Because she was a diligent and hard worker, she was promoted through the ranks to Draft Supervisor. After completing 35 years and 8 months of service, she retired and pursued her true passion – helping others. Mother Goss was a vibrant and energetic individual who embraced life at every opportunity. Although she had a passion for cabinet making, she put her hobby on hold to give generously of herself to others by ministering to their individual needs; giving a home to the homeless, bread to the hungry and caring for the sick. Even up to age 87, one would find her still chauffeuring the elderly, shopping and tending to the needs of others. Mother Goss came to the end of her life's journey on January 12, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Goss, two brothers Mack and Francis Blake, and two great grandsons, Dennis Carroll, Jr., and John Gudger, Jr. Mother Goss leaves to cherish her memories a daughter and son-in-law, Adrienne and Bernard Brown; a son John Gudger; two sisters, Emma Holmes and Veronica Dean; five grandchildren, Dennis Carroll, Sr., Donte and his wife Kyva Carroll, Sheron Gudger, Andre Gudger, and Tanya Gudger; seven great grandchildren, Alexys Johnson, D'Mario, D'Angelo, and Micah Carroll, Diego Gudger, Morgan, Genesis; close friends, Madeline Ford, Diane Graham, Darlena Ford, and Janice and Steven Blanchard and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be January 16, 2010, from 9:30AM until time of service at 11AM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD. Pastor Derrick Ford will officiate. Pallbearers will be Donte Carroll, Dennis Carroll, Thurone Swann, Kenny Dorsey, Michael Brown and Willie Tucker. Interment will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens. |
