Helen E. Batten Hamilton, 86 of Leonardtown, MD passed away on January 1, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital.

Born July 27, 1923 in Thomasville, NC she was the daughter of the late Earnest M. and Carrie Lee Stroud Batten.

Helen married Joel Clade Hamilton on September 1, 1941 and was a homemaker. Over the past sixty nine years, Helen and Joel resided in North Carolina, Florida, Texas and Maryland.

Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her husband of 68 years Joel C. Hamilton of Leonardtown, MD, children; Joel McRae Hamilton, (Susan) of Leonardtown, MD, and Faye Jane Groves, (Gary) of Eldersburg, MD, also survived by 6 grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Helen was preceded in death by a daughter; Sandra Hamilton.

Viewing and interment will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 in High Point, NC.
