Calvert Carroll Buckler, Jr., age 87, of Owings, MD, died December 27, 2009 at Georgetown University Hospital. He was born August 18, 1922 in Annapolis, MD to Calvert C. and Jesse Lee (Trott) Buckler.

He graduated from Calvert High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving from 1941-1946. After his discharge he was employed at the Naval Research Lab at Randle Cliffs, retiring after 33 years of service.

Calvert married Clara Tucker on April 4, 1941 in Lower Marlboro, MD. Mrs. Buckler died February 3, 2003.

Calvert was a member of Grace Brethren Church of Calvert County, the Stallings–Williams American Legion Post 206 in Chesapeake Beach, MD, and the Prince Frederick Masonic Lodge # 142. Calvert enjoyed dancing in his younger years, and also enjoyed baseball, golf, bowling and playing cards.

Besides his wife Clara, he was preceded in death by sisters Audrey Mae Bowen and Eloise Clarke.

He is survived by a son Gregory M (Elizabeth Anne) Buckler of Spring Hill, TN; a daughter Bonnie (Duane) Shuman of Apple Valley, CA; grandchildren Michael (Stephanie) Buckler of Lusby, MD, Shane Buckler of Nashville, TN, Colby Buckler of Spring Hill, TN, Amy (Jacob) Spencer of Spring Hill, TN, Angela (Charles) Norris of Prince Frederick, MD and Aaron (Breana) Shuman of Apple Valley, CA, a sister Frances Gibson of Huntingtown, MD and nine great grandchildren.

Friends may call on Friday, January 1, 2010 from 1-2 PM at Grace Brethren Church of Calvert County, where a Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 P.M. Inurnment will take place at Huntingtown United Methodist Church Cemetery, Huntingtown, MD.
