Carter Francis Swann, affectionately known as "Charlie" was born on September 2, 1929 in Indian Head, Maryland, to the late Godfrey J. Swann and Ruth L. Brooks Swann. Carter departed this life on December 21, 2009 at the Civista Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland.

Carter was raised in Indian Head, Maryland and educated in the Public School system of Charles County, Maryland. On March 5, 1950, Carter was joined in Holy Matrimony to Geraldine Datcher of Nanjemoy, Maryland and from that union a daughter, Geraldine Frances and a son, Harry Adrian was born. Carter was employed with the Naval Propellant Plant in Indian Head, Maryland and retired after 31 years of service. After retiring from the Federal Government, he went to work with the Charles County Government and retired from that job as well.

He was a good provider, loved his family, his wife, daughter, son, grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Carter was a peaceful, quit person, content with the little things of life. In addition to spending time with his family he also enjoyed working in the yard.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife, Geraldine Datcher Swann, a loving daughter and son, Geraldine Francis Mc Daniel and Harry Adrian Swann, grandchildren, Sakda Swann, Akeem Swann and Hamilla Swann, two great grandchildren, son-in-law, David Mc Daniel, daughter-in-law, Patricia Swann, six brothers, five sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing, Monday, December 28, 2009 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 30 Mattingly Avenue, Indian Head, Maryland from 9:00am until Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00am. Interment, St. Charles Cemetery, Glymont, Maryland.
