On December 7, 2009, Shirley Yvonne Goldring more affectionately known as "Shirley Ann" was called home to join her heavenly Father. Shirley was born July 13, 1961 in La Plata, Maryland to the late John Benjamin Goldring and Emma Victoria Lee-Goldring.

She was the youngest of 13 children. She grew up in the Southern Maryland area and was educated in Charles County Public Schools. Shirley was baptized in Jesus Name in the early 1980's. She often attended church with her nieces.

Born in a large family, she understood the importance of family togetherness. Shirley was very family oriented, supportive of her children, granddaughters, nieces and nephews. She was instrumental in planning holiday dinners. She was especially known for her fried chicken and potato salad. She loved and adored little children. She was well known as the babysitter in the family. Life experiences and challenges shaped her into a women of wisdom. Her overall enjoyment in life was children.

Shirley leaves to cherish her fond memories to her son, Thomas "Randy" Jones; one daughter, Denise Marie Goldring; one daughter in-law, Shawnta Jones; three granddaughters, Imani, Leche and Inajah. Five sisters, Catherine (Edward), Victoria (Lionel), Linda (Henry), Delores (Sidney), and Angie. Six brothers, Charles Lee, Larry, John (Edwina), Mike, Jerry and Tony (Kim). Aunts, Inez Cook and Doris Brickhouse. Special friend, Thomas "Lloyd" Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Emma Goldring, and brother Sylvester Thomas Goldring.

Her viewing will be held on Friday, December 18th, 10:00am until time of services 11:00am Chapel of THORNTON Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD. Interment Heritage Memorial Cemetery, Waldorf, MD.
