Russell Stone, age 73, of Mechanicsville, MD, formerly of Waldorf, MD died November 25, 2009 at Washington Hospital Center. Born February 7, 1936 in Dover, Delaware, he was the son of Frank Ernest Stone and Gladys Russell Stone.

Mr. Stone was a retired U.S. Air Force Tech Sergeant. He also retired from the Harry Lundenburg Seafarers School and as an examiner with the Motor Vehicles Administration. He loved cats and his dog, Mickey. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to walk, often 2 hours a day. Watching the news and observing the political side of the world was a favorite thing to do.

Besides his parents, Mr. Stone was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Stone.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Padgett Stone; son, Russell Stone, Jr. and wife, Shelley; daughters, Christina Stone and Lisa Ann Andrews and husband, Allan; brother, Frank Stone; sister, Dorothy Cummings and granddaughter, Sarah Stone. He is also survived by and will be very much missed by his very large family including brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, and many friends..

The family will receive friends for Russell's Life Celebration on Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Reverend Tim Bean will conduct a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 at Brinsfield-Echols at 12:30 p.m., and Interment will take place at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. Honary pall-bearers will be his nephews: Greg Adkins, Donovan Padgett, Jimmy Padgett, Joseph Padgett, Andy Vandegrift, Patrick Vandegrift, and Wesley Wise.
