Joseph Calvert Long, 92, of Dameron, MD died October 7, 2009 at his residence.
Born August 21, 1917 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Calvert Francis Long and Mary Alberta (Trossbach) Long. Mr. Long is survived by his wife Edna Mae Long, and children; Carol A. Bauman of Linthicum, MD, Jean L. Cole of Monroe, GA, Carol J. Pietruszak of Fredericksburg, VA, Alan Long (Kathleen) of Camden, DE, and Francis A."Rick" Long (Leslie) of Upper Marlboro, MD. Mr. Long served in the United States Army from 1941 until 1945. He owned and operated Long's Liquor Store from 1946 until 1978. Mr. Long was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus member as well as a past Grand Knight, a St. Michael's Knights 2065 member, and an American Legion Post 255 member. Family will receive friends on Friday, October 9, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in St. Michael's Catholic Church, 16555 Three Notch Road, Ridge, MD 20680. Prayers will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
