Lois M. Jenkins, 87, died October 5, 2009 at the Calvert County Nursing Center in Prince Frederick where she had lived for the past two years. She was born October 11, 1921 in Pittsburgh, PA to Wilbur Samuel and Sarah Marjorie McKrell Buzard.
She was raised in the Pittsburgh area and graduated from Aspinwall High School. She attended nursing school, was a registered nurse, and enlisted in the US Army where she proudly served in the Army Nurse Corps from January 3, 1944 until being discharged as a 2nd Lieutenant on August 1, 1945, receiving the WWII European Theater of Operations Service Ribbon. After her service in the military she worked as a nurse, primarily in Cheswick, PA. She was previously married to Robert B. Reed, Sr. and later to John G. Jenkins, and was divorced from both. She had lived in Owings, MD with her daughter since 1985. She enjoyed all sports, especially baseball, football, hockey, golf and tennis. She also enjoyed painting, gardening, reading, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by daughters Michelle D. Janowich (Michael) of Owings, Marjorie L. Krotzer (Kevin) of Stuart, FL and Charlene E. Piser of Wilmington, DE; sons Robert B. Reed (Kay) of Boynton Beach, FL and Mark D. Jenkins (Amy) of Huntingtown, MD. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and three great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by brothers William and James Buzard. Arrangements provided by Rausch Funeral Home.
