John Hutchins Gott, Jr.,89, died September 30, 2009 at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, MD. He was born October 24, 1919 in Owings to John H. Sr. and Elizabeth Iola King Gott.

He was raised in Owings, attended public school, and worked as an automobile mechanic. He enlisted in the US Army in 1942 and served as a motor pool mechanic until being honorably discharged in 1946 as a Staff Sergeant. He married Ethel Lynn Siegert on December 19, 1942, and they lived in Owings after his military discharge.

He operated Gott's Garage in Owings until the mid 1960's, when he began working for Prince George's County as a mechanic and shop foreman, retiring in 1980. He enjoyed working on cars, cutting grass on his lawn tractor, watching baseball and football and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Gott was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Herbert and Vernon Gott.

He is survived by his wife Ethel Lynn; a son John M. Gott, Sr. (wife Sissie) and daughter Gay Lynn Stream (husband David), all of Owings; grandchildren Shirley Lynn Ireland, Johnnie M. Gott, Jr., Crystal Lynn Klinedinst and David R. Stream; great-grandchildren T.J., Colby and Chelsea Ireland and Savannah Klinedinst; brothers Leslie Gott of Solomons, Charles Gott of Owings and William "Bootsie" Gott of Scottsdale, AZ; and sisters Elizabeth Hance of Port Republic, Eva May Ridgely of Glen Burnie and Dorothy Barrett of Lusby, MD.

Friends may call at Rausch Funeral Home, P.A., 8325 Mt. Harmony Lane, Owings, MD on Friday from 6-8 PM, where services will be held Saturday October 3 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Woodfield Cemetery, Galesville, MD.
