Wilmer Wendell Miles, 70, of Indian Head, MD, died September 5, 2009, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC.

Also known as Wilner, Smiley, Bill and Pop, Mr. Miles served in the U. S. Marine Corps. He worked for 45 years of service with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union # 70 and later as an Electrical Superintendent for Wilson Construction. He was a volunteer fireman with Hillside Fire Department, a member of the Kena of Temple, the Scottish Rites and was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Oxon Hill Masonic Lodge # 231. He enjoyed golf and spending time with his family, who he adored.

Born May 20, 1939, in Bowie, MD, he was the son of the late Marjorie Beryl Jones and the late Edgar Simpers Miles.

Predeceased by his parents; son, William T. Miles; sister, Jean Griffin.

Survived by his wife, Sandra F. Miles; his daughter, Cindy L. Banks and her husband Pastor Jacques T. Banks; his sisters, Barbara Henson, Charlotte Daniels, Georgia Hardesty and Connie Haggard; his brother, Charles "Buck" Miles; his sister-in-law and his brothers-inlaw: grandchildren, Crystal Liebrecht, Samantha Miles, Marcus Miles and Travis Miles; great granddaughters, Cheyanne Miles, Dakota Miles and Bianca Liebrecht; also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, September 11, 2009, from 2-4 and 6-8PM with Masonic Service at 7PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 12, 2009, at St. James Episcopal Church, 7 Potomac Avenue, Indian Head, MD 20646. A visitation will be in church from 10AM to 10:45AM with a Service at 11AM.

Pastor Jacques T. Banks will officiate.

Interment will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.

Pallbearers will be Maurice Hardesty Jr., Timothy Hardesty, Michael Hardesty, Russell Hardesty, Kevin Miller and Joseph Lockard.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital Sickle Cell Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
