Lolita Marlene Davis departed her life here on earth on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 9:06 p.m., at Community Hospice of District of Columbia. Lolita was also known as Lo, Missy, and Auntie to family and friends.
Lolita was born on February 17, 1965 in La Plata, MD to Elizabeth Ann Jones and the late Francis Howard Davis. At a young age after her mother remarried she was raised as his own by Harold Stanley Jones, Sr. She attended Prince Georges' Public Schools, while in school at the age of 12 she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. She graduated in 1983 form Largo High School, in Largo, MD with honors. She went on to further her education at Greensboro University, in Greensboro, NC, majoring in Politic Science and History. After completing 3 years of schooling she was unable to return due to illnesses. After returning home, she obtained an Accounting Clerk position at the Naval Research Laboratory, where she retired in 1993 due to medical disability. In May 1995 she received a Kidney Transplant after dealing with dialysis for nearly 2 years. In later years she developed other physical and health issues that consumed her for her remaining years. In total, Lolita suffered for 32 years from various physical and health issues. Lolita had numerous hobbies, she enjoyed reading, music, watching television, family gatherings, shopping, and traveling. But, her most enjoyment was the time she spent with her three nephews. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother; Randy J. Davis, Sr. Left to cherish fond memories are: her mother, Mama-Elizabeth Ann Jones, father, Pops-Harold Stanley Jones, Sr., sisters, Velveeta C. Johnson and Harlisha S. Jones, brother, Harold S. Jones, Jr., brother-in-law, James K. Johnson, nephews, Terrell D. Davis, Randy J. Davis, Jr., James "Tevin" Johnson and Trevor K. Johnson, godmother, Constance James of New York, a loving friend and third sister, Kim Solomon, godson, DaShawn Durham and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family relatives and friends.
