Mr. Robert Edward Babcock,Jr., 57, of Lexington Park, MD was born on May 19, 1952 at St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, MD to the late Robert Edward Babcock, Sr. and Mildred Jane Babcock (Woodburn). He was the oldest of seven children, three brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Babcock graduated from Great Mills High School in 1972 and eventually retired from St. Mary's County Government as a landfill attendant. Some other jobs he held include; five years as a firefighter at NAS, Patuxent River, MD and as a commercial driver. Some of his favorite activities consisted of crabbing and cooking. He also was an avid fan of football, baseball, and NASCAR. His favorite football team was the Detroit Lions.

Mr. Babcock is survived by his wife; Dorothy Marie Babcock (Oliver), two children; Kay Elizabeth Bailey and Gregory Edward Babcock, and three grandchildren; Daniel Christopher Bailey, Jr., Kiaya Nicole Bailey, and Nathaniel Edward Bailey, three brothers; Albert Babcock, Timothy Babcock, Ronnie Babcock, and three sisters; Pattie Alderman, Pam Greenwell and Kathy Babcock.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 22375 Three Notch Road, Lexington Park, MD 20653. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jack Kennealy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Babcock, George Burch, Mike Oliver, Jason Babcock, Dan Bailey, and James Greenwell. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Pattie Alderman, Pam Greenwell, Gregory Babcock, Allie Babcock, Ronnie Babcock, Timmy Babcock, and Tina Babcock.
