Hope Rachel Roland, 85, of Mechanicsville, MD died August 14, 2009 at Civista Medical Center, LaPlata, MD.
Born August 23, 1923 in Camp Springs, MD, she was the daughter of Herbert Pyles and Edith Peaper Pyles. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Norman Roland. She is survived by her sons, Larry Roland and his wife, Charlotte and Jay Roland and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Crystal Sparks, Loren Roland, Jaymie Phipps and Kevin Roland; great grandchildren, Brandon Sparks, Kaitlyn Roland, Alex Roland, Jaelyn Phipps and Christian Sansbury; and great-great grandchild, Evan Sparks ; sisters, Gloria Oursler and Joyce King; brothers, Calvin (Hap) Pyles and Herbert (Jeff) Pyles. Besides her parents and husband, Hope was preceded in death by her son, Don Lyn Roland and brothers, James W. Pyles, Homer Ray Pyles and Wayne R. Pyles and sister, Edith G. Payne and grandson, Dwayne Roland. Hope was a homemaker who loved her church and loved to bake. She would always give her baked goods away. She was a member of the Golden Beach Women's Club. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD on Friday, August 21, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at All Faith Episcopal Church, 38885 New Market Turner Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD at 11:00a.m..
