Lois Eileen Monaco, 65, of Waldorf, MD, died July 11, 2009, at Civista Medical Center, La Plata, MD.

In her teens she was a National Two Baton Twirling Champion. She went on to graduate from Frostburg Teachers College and started substitute teaching at various schools in Maryland, before getting a teachers position at Bladensburg High School. She continued teaching in Charles County at Port Tobacco Elementary and La Plata High School where she was one of the original choreographers for the La Plata High School "Show Troupe" and finished up her teaching career at Thomas Stone High School retiring in the year 2000. She was a member of the Maryland Retired School Personnel Association and the National Baton Twirling Association. She was a recipient of the Who's Who Among American Teachers as a "Distinguished Educator". Her interests were her grandchildren, her two previous dogs, Muffy and Scooter, true crime novels, arts and crafts, an avid Redskins and sports fan, and collector of Native American and eagle figurines. She loved decorating for Christmas and collecting jewelry and shoes.

Born March 12, 1944, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Hylton B. Hodges and the late Kathleen Davidson Hodges.

Predeceased by her parents; brother, Tony Hodges.

Survived by her husband, Michael J. Monaco; sons, Jimmy and his wife Tammy Reulet of Mechanicsville, MD; David and his wife Kelly Reulet of Waldorf, MD; daughter, Cheri Charron of Shadyside, MD; grandchildren, Chris, Diana, Melanie, A.J., Michael Matthew, Madison, Michelle and Josh.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 15, 2009, 2-4PM and 7-9PM with wake service at 7:30PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 16, 2009, 11AM, St. Peter's Catholic Church, Waldorf, MD.

Fr. Alain Colliou will officiate.

Interment will be Monday, July 20, 2009, 1PM, at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Reulet, David Reulet, Chris Reulet, Michael Reulet, A.J. Reulet, and Matthew Charron.
