Mary Inez Thompson of La Plata, MD, died on Monday, June 22, 2009 at Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, MD. She was 81 years old.

Born on May 18, 1928 in Faulkner, MD, she was the daughter of the late Bena Swann and the late Lee Thompson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Buddy Thompson; her daughter Earlene Thompson; sons David, Barry and Francis Thompson; sisters Ethel Wallace and Louise Swann; brothers-in-law Leo Proctor and Johnson Wallace.

She is survived by her daughters Carolyn (Irvin) Johnson, Michelle (Russell) Thomas, Belinda Thompson, Christine Thompson; sons Ernest (Sherri) Thompson, Hugh (Susie) Thompson, Clifton (Joyce Tolson) Thompson, Randy (Darlene) Thompson; sisters Ellen Proctor and Doris (Paul) Proctor; brothers James W. (Doris) Thompson, John A. (Jean) Thompson, Lawrence (Jackie) Thompson; brother-in-law Lawrence Swann; 23 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation on Monday, June 29, 2009 from 9:00AM to 10:30AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, MD with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30AM with Father Ron Potts officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Richardson, Randy Thompson, Jr., Curtis Thompson, Eugene Thompson, Steve Thompson and Jerrell Thompson.

A reception will be at the Sacred Heart Church Hall after the services.
