Mr. Amthor was Vice President of Thyssen Elevator Company of Ohio for 25 years. He was a graduate of Gwynn Park High School and attended the College of Southern Maryland. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newport, MD. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid Redskin and Notre Dame football fan.
He was son of the late George E. Amthor, Sr. and the late Vera Hancock Amthor. He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Debra Ann Bowling Amthor, two sons, Wesley and Matthew Amthor, both of the family home in La Plata, MD, two brothers, Bobby (Cheryl) Amthor of Washington State, and Frank (Darlene) Grimes of Virginia. Also survived by seventeen nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2009 from 4-8pm with Wake Service at 7pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, June 26, 2009 at 10am at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Newport, 11555 St. Mary's Church Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Clergy will be the Monsignor Oliver McGready. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery, Newport, MD. Pallbearers will be Bobby and Jimmie Amthor, Henry Bowling, Scott Day, Frank Grimes, Mike Mirch, and Frank Sinclair. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Home. |
