On Friday, May 29, 2009, a busy life came to an end. God completed the building of a new home for King David Ramsey and called him to rest.

It is said by his mother, that while his father was waiting for her to give birth, he was reading the bible and said "if it is a boy, his name will be "King David"; and so it was. King David was born April 6, 1957, in Meridian, Mississippi, to Clara Ramsey and the late Victor Lawrence Ramsey, Sr.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Jacob and Daisy Ramsey, maternal grandparents, Walter and Lula Bradley, sister Zapherie Elizabeth Ramsey, brothers Kenneth Ramsey and Jeffery Ramsey, Sr.

KD was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church, of Biloxi, MS, where he was baptized at an early age by the Pastor, CM Holloway.

KD, as he was affectionately called by many, attended Nickels Jr. High and graduated from Biloxi High School in 1975. During his school years, KD demonstrated skills in playing football, basketball and track. Upon completion of high school, he was employed for a short time by Engles Shipyard, of Pascagoula, MS. After leaving the shipyard, he left Mississippi to serve his country and joined the United States Army, where he served for over 20 years as an Administrative Specialist. During his military career he served as a Drill Sergeant and received numerous awards, including: 2 Defense Meritorious Service Medals, 4 Army Commendation Medals, and 3 Army Achievement Medals. He retired as a Sergeant First Class Non-Commissioned Officer.

As he embarked into the world as a civilian, David was employed by the Defense Information Systems Agency, where he served for 13 years as an Information Technology Specialist until his demise. He received several accomplishments, honors and awards. David was a member of Blacks in Government (BIG), BIG IMPACT Chapter of the Defense Information Systems Agency, where he served in the capacity of the Parliamentarian, Vice President and President; and throughout the remainder of his membership he served as the Chapter Regional Council Representative and Chapter Delegate. In furthering his education, David attended The National-Louis University of Wheeling Illinois, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology. David believed in making a difference in his community and with others and served as a member and Vice President of Kingsview Homeowners Association; King David Ramsey joined Willard W. Allen Lodge No. #108, (Belgium) Free and Accepted Mason, under the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Maryland and its Jurisdictions. He later transferred to the Maryland Military Lodge No. #122, (Baltimore) where he was a current and active member; additionally, he was an active member of the American Legion Post 170 Pomonkey, Maryland. He loved spending time with family, friends and helping others in need. David never met a stranger.

On September 7, 1996, David married the love of his life, Glenda J. Moore, of Statesboro, Georgia and made their home in White Plains, Maryland.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Glenda Ramsey, his daughters Katrina Mitchell (Jamal) of MD and Denetra Francis-Holman of NJ., and Taylor Michelle of MD; his mother Clara Ramsey of MS; two sisters, Carol Anne Calhoun of MS, Michelle Ramsey of MS; three brothers - Donald Ramsey of GA; Victor Ramsey, Jr. of FL, Larry Ramsey of MS; a devoted paternal aunt Olivia McClendon of CA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
