Lt. Colonel (Ret.) Edward Andrew Bredbenner, 57, of La Plata, MD, died May 26, 2009, at Civista Medical Center, La Plata, MD.
Lt. Colonel Edward Bredbenner retired after 32 years of service in the United States Air Force. He participated in the Vietnam conflict during Operation Linebacker II December 1972 as a young B-52 crew chief. Commission officer in 1982. Served in Spain, Germany, Okinawa, Japan, Alaska, Hawaii, Italy, France, England, the Azores, Saudi Arabia (as a squadron commander) and air bases throughout the Continental United States. Obtained two masters degrees in Industrial Technology and Aeronautical Science, an FAA Certified Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) Technician license and private pilot's license. Upon his death he was the Director of Maintenance for Dyn Corp International at Andrews Air Force Base. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and a kind man to all he knew. He will be missed by all who knew him. Born October 14, 1951, in Bamberg, Germany, he was the son of the late Joseph Bredbenner and the late Georgia Trunk Bredbenner. Predeceased by his parents. Survived by his wife of 36 years, Lila Allen Bredbenner; son, Derek Bredbenner and his wife, Deanna of League City, TX; daughter, Amanda Bredbenner and her fiancé, Nelson Pereira of Hoboken, NJ; grandson, Seth Bredbenner. Also survived by his mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers, friends and neighbors across the world who are a part of Ed's life. Funeral Service will be August 26, 2009, 3PM, at Arlington National Cemetery with full Air Force Honors. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
