Freda Mae Long, 83, of Leonardtown, Maryland and formerly of Mechanicsville, died on May 23, 2009 at Cedar Lane in Leonardtown, where she had many friends including Walter Abell and a very caring staff.
Born March 21, 1926 in Lanham, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late George and Iva Clemmer. Mrs. Long attended Bladensburg High and then worked at the Navy Yard. Later she attended the University of Maryland, where she met her first husband William R. Coleman. They soon moved to New Jersey where she became "a stay at home mom" of two beautiful daughters. She later moved to College Park and worked at Litton Industries where she met her second husband, Paul L. Long. They moved to Landover Hills and she started working at NASA where she retired. She enjoyed traveling, the beach, playing bingo, painting, drawing and working with flowers, and she loved her Yorkies. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Long is survived by her daughters; Elinor L. Blades and Sandy J. White and her husband Terry, sister; Dottie Harris and her husband John, grandchildren; David and Nicholas White, John and Paul Osborne, Ann Marie and Matthew Blades, great grandchildren; Alex White, Paul Osborne Jr.,Brad, Shane, Dillon Osborne and Leslie Blades. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sister Eloise Fortune,her first husband William R Coleman, and her second husband, Paul L. Long. Friends may attend her Life Celebration at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622 on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 2PM to 4PM and where her service will be at 4PM. Her interment will take place on Monday, June 1, 2009 at 2PM at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of St. Mary's County, P.O.
