Christine Biren Lennox, 83, of Lexington Park, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 9, 2026, at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, MD, after a brief illness.

She was born on October 14, 1942, in Chicago, IL, to the late Robert and Helen (Hilborn) Biren as the third of four children. Growing up in Arlington, VA, she graduated from Wakefield High School before pursuing a Bachelor's in Education from Radford College. Driven by a passion for teaching, she began her career teaching third grade at Minnie Howard Elementary School in Alexandria, VA. In 1968, she relocated to Lexington Park, MD, where she earned a Master's in Education from George Washington University. Her dedication to education led her to a variety of roles: reading specialist at St. John's School in Hollywood, MD; kindergarten teacher at Park Hall Elementary School in Park Hall, MD; Assistant Director of Special Programs at St. Mary's College of Maryland; and later, Director of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Lexington Park satellite campus. She retired in 2017, leaving behind a legacy of educational service.

Her passion was teaching. She was an avid reader, loved shopping, and cherished time with her grandchildren, especially her granddaughter Katie. Family gatherings brought her great joy, as did time with friends. She loved to travel, visiting destinations such as England, France, Bonaire, Williamsburg, VA, many beaches, and also traveled cross-country across the United States. She enjoyed swimming her entire life, and in her younger days, she enjoyed boating and waterskiing. Her great smile, infectious laughter, and positive outlook filled every room.

She is survived by her loving husband, Howard (Newt) Lennox; her daughter, Christine Clarke Wood (Bob); her grandchildren, Timothy (Tim), Katherine (Katie), and Ryan; her sister, Jennifer Terwilliger; many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Hamilton Clarke, her sister, Helen Pelikan, and her brother, David Biren. Despite these losses, her spirit and legacy continue to live on through her family and the many lives she touched.

Family will receive friends on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00am with a service from 11:00am to 12:00 pm. Interment will occur at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a later date.
