She grew up right off the St. Mary's and Potomac Rivers in St. George's Island, Md. and later moved to Piney Point, Md. She often recalled her and her siblings spending their days in or around the rivers, walking to the firehouse for carnivals and summers at their grandmother's home in Hollywood, MD., playing on the farm and picking fresh vegetables for family dinners. She would say "Growing up, with all of us, we had to take care of one another and watch out for each other."

A stickler for cleanliness, she started out her work life cleaning homes. A short time later she combined her passion for cleanliness and order with the compassion for others she had in her heart, and began a career in Patient Care at St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, Md. She was dedicated to her job and grew with the Hospital for over 30 years. Patients, nurses and managers alike all praised her for her attention to detail, pleasant disposition, and caring bedside manner.

Sheila and her husband Anthony were introduced in 1997. The two grew fond of one another and quickly fell in love. Sheila immediately took on a mothering role to Anthony's sister and daughter, which he was in care of, filling the gap between their mothers who had just passed away. As well as to Anthony's daughter that was in care of her mother but would come to visit his home during the summers. They married on April 20, 2002, and have been devoted to each other ever since.

Sheila loved flowers, gardening and being outside watching the hummingbirds. She and her dog Sadie were inseparable! She delighted in taking Sadie on walks, playing with her and of course making sure her girl was always well groomed. Sheila also enjoyed traveling. She treasured vacations in the islands and anywhere she could be by the water, go horseback riding or be surrounded in lush foliage and flora.
