Laura Jean Delph (Elliott), 59, of La Plata, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, warmth, and unforgettable memories.
Born on October 25, 1966, Laura was a graduated of Lackey High School, class of 85. Laura dedicated over 35 years of her life as a restaurant owner of Southern Maryland Seafood Company, where her strong work ethic, kindness, and welcoming spirit touched countless people in her community. She took great pride in her business and the relationships she built through it. She had a passion for shopping, gardening, baking, and all things Disney, but above all, she cherished her role as "Mimi." Laura was truly a "magic maker," known for creating joy in every season of life. Holidays were her specialty—she made each one bigger, brighter, and filled with love. Her home was a place where family gathered, laughter was constant, and everyone felt special. She was preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine Elliott and Garland Elliott. Laura is survived by her devoted husband, Jeffery Delph; her loving daughter, Courtney Freeman, and son-in-law, Allen Freeman; and her beloved grandchildren, Reagan Freeman and Vincent Freeman, who knew her lovingly as "Mimi" and were the light of her life. She is also survived by her brother, Terry Elliott (Renee), and her sister, Karen McKeown (David), along with many cherished nieces and nephews. Laura's love for her family was the center of her world, and her memory will live on in the traditions she created and the lives she touched. A celebration of Laura's life full of love will be held at a later date, with details to be announced by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charles County Humane Society.
