Alma Davy Fitzgerald, 84, La Plata MD, formerly of Naples Fl. and Chaptico, MD. Alma died peacefully on May 16th at home surrounded by her family.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on February 10, 1925 the daughter of the late George F. and Alma Davy.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William J. Fitzgerald, her sons: Daniel J. Fitzgerald, Timothy F. Fitzgerald, Kevin B. Fitzgerald and Dennis J. Fitzgerald, her siblings: Eileen Heye, Barbara Cousins, John Davy and George Davy.

She is survived by children, Billy Fitzgerald, Kathleen Fitzpatrick and husband Bill, Patrick Fitzgerald, Judy Burroughs and husband John, Michael Fitzgerald and wife Connie, John Fitzgerald, Mary Collins and husband Les, and Alma Colburn and husband Richard. Grandchildren Victoria, Will and John Garrett Fitzgerald, Katie and Billy Fitzpatrick, Ashley and wife Jennifer, Jessy and Jamie Burroughs, Meghan and Michael Fitzgerald, Shannon and Tara Collins, Johanna Colburn. Great Grandchildren Sean and Ryan Burroughs.

She was a registered nurse in the Cadet Corps, and graduated from the Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She also worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown MD. She was a graduate of Cardinal Newman Center for Laity in 1997 and a lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Naples Fla.

She loved spending time with her family. She inter acted well with others and had many friends.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, May 18, 2000 in the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with prayers recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 28297 Old Village Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren Michael Fitzgerald, Billy Fitzpatrick, Will Fitzgerald, John Garrett Fitzgerald, Ashley and Jessy Burroughs and son John Fitzgerald.

The lectors are Granddaughters Megan and Victoria Fitzgerald, the gift bearers are granddaughters Shannon and Tara Collins. Special presentation on the piano will be granddaughter Katie Fitzpatrick, and Vocalist Jamie Burroughs.
