Douglas, Carolyn Marie
Birth: Wednesday, September 29, 1943
Residence: Charlotte Hall, MD
Death: Thursday, February 05, 2026 at the age of 82
On Thursday, February 5, 2026, Carolyn Marie Douglas, 82, of Charlotte Hall, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by love. Carolyn was born on September 29, 1943, to the late James and Eva Latham in Washington, DC.

Carolyn is survived by her loving son, David, and Son-in-Law John, whom she adored; in addition to Sister-in-Laws Johnna Latham and Linda Mills (Bubby), Brother-in-Law Richie Douglas, many nieces and nephews, four great grandchildren, and two very special people in her life, Shannon Johnson and Brandon Miller, whom she thought of as her own children. She also had the pleasure of 50-year friendships with several of her neighbors.

In her younger years, Carolyn developed a huge love for the four-legged furry friends. Dogs were always a big part of her life; she could remember the name of every dog she ever met before she could remember the owner. She had a special place in her heart for the mutts and the bullies. As a teen, Carolyn was a supporter of the Hillside Volunteer Fire Department, where she joined the majorettes performing with a fire baton that she still has to this day. In 1958, while playing softball for Hillside, she met "Doug" and, according to him, "she chased me until I asked her out on a date". On May 25, 1963, they married.

Carolyn was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith and attended Catholic School at St. Frances in Washington, D.C. She attended mass at Mt. Calvary Catholic Church in Forestville, MD, where she later married the love of her life, Arthur H. Douglas, Jr. They were blessed with two sons, David A. Douglas of Brandywine, MD, and Brian J. Douglas.

Carolyn worked for the government for over 25 years. She started at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and later transferred to the U.S. Department of Energy until she retired in 2008.

Carolyn enjoyed her family, going to Ocean City, and attending classic car/street rod shows around Southern Maryland, winning many trophies and plaques. She loved to be on the go, from going to events or shopping with her son to going to the Senior Center with her neighbor; she was always up for a new adventure. Her favorite thing to do was attending a family event that included friends, where she generously gave away her special "Aunt Carolyn Hugs".

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, cherished husband Doug, youngest son Brian, Grandson Brian II, and her siblings, Barbara Thompson and James Latham.

On Saturday, February 21, 2026, family and friends are invited to gather for the visitation from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 pm with Father Bob Golas at Brinsfield Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622.
