John Gibbons Guy, Jr., age 96, passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2026. He was born on November 14, 1929, in Clements, Maryland, to the late John Gibbons Guy, Sr. and Hattie Veronica Hayden.

John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, an experience that shaped his strong sense of duty and discipline. Following his military service, he dedicated his professional life to public service as an electronic engineer for the Civil Service, where he was respected for his skill, intelligence, and commitment.

A devoted Catholic, John's faith was an important part of his life and guided his values and character.

John married his beloved wife, Vicki Guy on November 23, 2013, with whom he shared a life rooted in love, faith, and companionship.

Along with his wife, John is survived by his son, John F. Guy; stepson, Lance L. Tarr; sister, Lois A. Alvey, as well as 13 grandchildren.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, John Gibbons Guy, Sr. and Hattie Veronica Hayden; children, Robert A. Guy and Virginia Francis; and his siblings, Susie Bell Guy Kennedy, Joseph L. Guy, James "Brent" Guy, Daniel A. Guy, Thomas W. Guy, and Harriet E. Martin.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a prayer service to follow at 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. All services are being held at the Second District Fire Department, 45245 Drayden Road, Valley Lee, MD 20692. Interment will follow funeral services at 11:15 a.m. at Charles Memorial Gardens, 26325 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
