Monday, May 12, 1941 - Friday, January 9, 2026 Barbara Jean Robison, 84, of St. Leonard, Maryland, passed away on January 9, 2026 at South River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Edgewater, Maryland. She was born on May 12, 1941, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Dorothy M. (Fay) and George S. Shegogue. The family lived in Bowie, Maryland, where Barbara grew up with her siblings. She attended Bladensburg High School, graduating class of 1959, then found employment at the General Accounting Office in Washington, D.C., and later worked in property management. In 1960, she met her true love and musician, James "Robie" W. Robison, and they married in 1961. They retired to Leonardtown, Maryland in St. Mary's County, sharing fifty-seven years of love, music, dancing, and adventure, until her husband, James' passing in 2017. Barbara was known for her compassion for animals, especially the local wildlife, and enjoyed feeding the squirrels and deer that visited her home. Barbara is survived by her son, James "Jimmy" Robison and his wife Diane; her grandchildren, Lauren E. Robison and her wife Margery, Ryan Robison and his partner Tara, Evan Robison and his partner Koryn; her great-grandchild, Frankie Deane Robison; her sisters, Linda Balach and her husband Bill, and Sandra Shamleffer. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband James W. Robison; her parents, George and Dorothy Shegogue; her daughter, Robin Robison Saul and her late husband Ronald; her brother, George A. Shegogue; her sister, Dorothy Shegogue Marek, and her brother-in-law, Edmund Shamleffer. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Rausch Funeral Home, 4405 Broomes Island Road, Port Republic, MD, 20676.
